What’s New in Sage 50 2016 ?

Sage 50 Accounts has already been a great tool for companies to effectively perform its accounting functions since its release several years ago.

With the new release (Sage 50 Accounts 2016), it has been further improved based on Customer and Sage Business Partner feedback. No software out there can ever be absolutely perfect for everyone but Sage never cease trying to please everyone with their software and for this they should be commended.

 So….what’s new in Sage 50 Accounts 2016 ?

 MORE CONSISTENT PROGRAM NAVIGATION

Sage radically changed the look and feel of Sage 50 Accounts in the 2015 release, enabling you to quickly navigate between ledgers, and easily find the tasks you need. Sage 50 Accounts 2016 has continued along this path and Sage have ensured that all areas of the program now follow the new navigation patterns that were introduced in Sage 50 Accounts 2015.

 INFORMATION EASIER TO FIND

Sage have improved the finding of information from within the extensive Sage 50 database as sometimes certain searches have historically taken searching across several screens. Customers had requested that some information be moved up into the more sensible module work areas and therefore would be made available at a glance to them and Sage have address this in Sage 50 Accounts 2016. For example, they have added extra columns in existing lists, new balance fields in payment screens and have provided a much easier way to identify customers / suppliers with disputed items.

 SCREEN CUSTOMISATION INCONSISTENCIES RESOLVED

In previous versions, users were able to, for example, add or remove columns in some views. However, the saving of these settings were at times inconsistent and Sage have taken steps to correct this in Sage 50 Accounts 2016.

 EDITING NOMINAL LEDGER JOURNALS

In previous versions, it was sometimes difficult to identify all elements of a journal entry. In Sage 50 Accounts 2016, all Nominal Ledger Journal entries are now provided with a unique batch ID and this allows a user to easily recall a complete journal batch when they need to make amendments to or, if necessary delete; ie. no need to “physically” complete a Journal Reversal

 UN-ALLOCATING PAYMENTS AND RECEIPTS

Sage listened to customers, accountants and business partners when drawing up a list of possible improvements to bring into Sage 50 Accounts 2016 and found that one particular area that needed improvement was the ability to easily un-allocate invoices and payments. So…Sage have now achieved this and there is now a new “Unallocate” button that a user can select either when highlighting an invoice or its payment / receipt and this will complete the un-allocation for you with the minimum of fuss and noise and without generating unnecessary extra transactions.

IDENTIFY WHO HAS MADE ERROR CORRECTIONS

If you need to know which user in your company made a correction to a transaction and when they made the amendment, you are now able to easily view this information. Saves all of those “well, it wasn’t me” scenarios.

 CONCLUSION

All in all, some great new extra features have been added to what was already a great piece of software. Well done to Sage and to the Business Partners and End Users that in part made these changes happen.
